How can I Help?
At Bethesda we’ve got different volunteer opportunities where you can get involved.
Day Care Programs: Pre School children of Bethesda Child and Youth Care Centre, Hospice and Home Base Care who have developmental shortages and have been evaluated by an Occupational Therapist is placed in a day care program, two mornings a week to stimulate their developmental growth.

Treat a child on his/her birthday: Benefactors take each child out for his/her birthday and treat the child with a present, cake and lunch or a movie. The children feel that they are important and love the individual attention.

Development programs: Children can participate in dancing, karate, modelling, arts and sports to explore their talents and build their self-esteem.

There are so many ways in which businesses - large and small - can make Bethesda part of their social responsibility programme:

Work Place Giving
Companies can challenge their staff to make a monthly donation to Bethesda, which will be matched by management.

Tin Projects
Our branded coin collection tins can be circulated throughout the company, within various departments, for staff to donate small change or departmental fines. Employees can also bring in unwanted items of clothing and children's toys from their homes.

Direct Mail
Companies can make their own databases available for a “once off ” use to Bethesda for a direct mail appeal for donations. This appeal letter could be tailor-made in order to benefit the company by making their customers aware of their social responsibility investment in Bethesda.

Businesses
Bethesda is aggressively focused on Cause Related Marketing (CRM) opportunities in the business environment. The objective, as a marketer of a charitable organisation, is to identify marketing imperatives of a business, which relate to the holistic cause of Bethesda.

Make a direct donation into our bank account, or bring all other donations to our offices. We do collect donations. View our wish list, or contact us for more needs.

Building of Cottages: We are currently using the hostel system, and would like to move to the cottage system. It will be of great benefit to the children to move to smaller houses in smaller groups where more personal attention, can be given. We need at least four houses which can accommodate eight to ten children. We are currently raising money for the building of these houses. One house will cost approximately R 700-000.

Renovating of building: We would like to renovate our building to make it more child friendly. We also need money and other building materials like paint, wood, locks, curtains, and a lot more.

Media Centre: We would like to equip a media centre where the children can explore working on computers and finding their own information for projects and assignments. This of course will also cost a lot of money.

Cottages: Donations of money, building materials, other supplies, furniture, etc will be greatly appreciated.

Training: Child and Youth Care Workers as well as other professional staff need continuous training. Training is expensive and resources are limited. Funds are needed for staff members to be trained as well as for staff wellness programmes.

Building of a chapel where marriages and funeral services for our patients is conducted.

Feeding project:: Eden Community Church will launch a feeding project into the community. This project consists of taking a bag with a shopping list. You can fill the bag with all the requirements from the shopping list, and drop it off at Bethesda or Eden Community Church. This bag will feed a family
